My Trail Review:

Acker Park is snuggled in between subdivision developments in the city of Prescott. It has easy access from 3 city street trailheads, has little elevation, well maintained wide trails and you are never far from a parking trailhead area.

Overall the Acker Park is top of the line Prescott area outdoors city hiking. Great views, quiet peaceful vistas where you do see some housing and city developments but you also get some awesome vistas of other peaks and mountain tops along the way.

If you are looking for a quiet woodsy area to have a picnic - this it it - there are several picnic tables in clearings under pine trees. Lots of shade. Additional parking, rest rooms, water and even a tots playground all nearby. There is a mostly dry creek bed running next to it for the kids and the kids at heart to explore.

This short trail loops off of the West Trailhead Parking trail entrance area running along side of the dry creek bed for a short ways, where it cuts across the creek bed and then wanders up to the Loop Trail. There is a gravel access road just to the west of it where you will find all the amenities close by.

As I crossed the dry creek bed 3 large birds did their "startled" and heavy flutter take off routine definitely getting my attention and my appreciation for their beauty and power. Silver was not impressed although and did not react at all - of course he is trained to do that . . .

Enjoy the Hike!
