My trail hike review --- My trail rating: 1

REGIONAL AREA: J.S. Acker Park - Amphitheater Trail as I call it is within the City of Prescott, Arizona Parks and Recreation supervision.
DIRECTIONS
From downtown Prescott go east on Gurley Street. Cross Senator Highway then take the next right (south) on S. Virginia St. You will travel a few blocks and enter the West Trailhead parking area. All trails are accessible from this trailhead and parking area simply by looping them together.

This is a fine short little trail for tots and grand folks who can get out and walk around a little. It has additional close parking, restrooms, shade, picnic tables, a tot playground and more.
This is a scenic park and this trail should be fun to bring out the family to seeThe children, even the tots have some special areas they will be able to walk and enjoy their very own unique playground equipment.
There are picnic tables along the way on this trail and then the Picnic Trail by the creek bed is just west of it across the gravel entrance road (which goes down to additional parking on the south side and provides the entrance to an old cemetery - see the pic with the metal arch).
Acker Park is nestled in between several subdivision developments within the city of Prescott. It has easy access from 3 city street trailheads, has little elevation, well maintained wide trails and you are never far from a parking trailhead area.
Overall the Park is top of the line Prescott area outdoors city hiking. Great views, quiet peaceful vistas where you do see some housing and city developments but you also get some awesome vistas of Thumb Butte, Granite Mountain and you can even see the San Francisco Peaks, which are way up north of Flagstaff, along the way. The Peaks even had snow cover on their tops today!
None of the trails in Acker Park are very long. All of them have benches and view seating along the way and most have picnic tables and some shade you can find to get out of the sun for awhile. You will also find interesting marker signs designating different types of local trees and plants and there is even a Blue Bird Nesting area on the Loop Trail.
I was surprised that I saw very few people out today as it was a beautiful deep clear blue sky spring morning - a great day to get outdoors. The overall experience was refreshing and relaxing.
Enjoy the Hike!
