DIRECTIONS
From downtown Prescott go east on Gurley Street., cross Senator Highway and then three more streets, turn right (south) on S. Penn Ave and continue ssouth till it turns into Eastwood Dr. You will travel a few blocks and see the the East Trailhead parking area on your right.

East Trail is accessible from this trailhead parking area. You can also loop i into your day hike from Ridge Trail.

REGIONAL AREA: J.S. Acker Memorial Park -
East Trail is within the City of Prescott, Arizona Parks and Recreation supervision.

Acker Park is snuggled in between subdivision developments in the city of Prescott. It has easy access from 3 city street trailheads, has little elevation, well maintained wide trails and you are never far from a parking trailhead area.

Overall the Acker Park is top of the line Prescott area outdoors city hiking. Great views, quiet peaceful vistas where you do see some housing and city developments but you also get some awesome vistas of other peaks and mountain tops along the way.

April 2008
This is a really short city park connector trail. There is a slight elevation change up to Ridge Trail. I connected to it from the Ridge Trail doing a "looper" by entering the trail from the north side Ridge Trail connection then exiting the trail onto S Penn Ave and walking the short distance further south to the East Trailhead and then taking it back up to where I came into it from Ridge Trail.

If you only hiked this trail you would most likely want to start it at the East Trailhead where there is plenty of parking. The East Trail entrance is well marked. Walk up the hill turn right at the connector and then back down the hill to S. Penn Ave, then walk a short distance south on Penn to where you parked your car.

Nothing really exciting here, I found it added maybe an extra 20 to 30 minutes on the day hike making it a little more interesting and profitable for my effort to drive over to the park.

There was a little bit of shade on the way back up the trail and some interesting views.

Enjoy the Hike!
