My trail hike review --- My trail rating: 1

DIRECTIONS
From downtown Prescott go east on Gurley Street. Cross Senator Highway then take the next right (south) on S. Virginia St. You will travel a few blocks and enter the West Trailhead parking area. All trails are accessible from this trailhead and parking area simply by looping them together.
REGIONAL AREA: J.S. Acker Memorial Park - Hill Top Trail is within the City of Prescott, Arizona Parks and Recreation supervision.
Acker Park is snuggled in between subdivision developments in the city of Prescott. It has easy access from 3 city street trailheads, has little elevation, well maintained wide trails and you are never far from a parking trailhead area.
Overall the Acker Park is top of the line Prescott area outdoors city hiking. Great views, quiet peaceful vistas where you do see some housing and city developments but you also get some awesome vistas of other peaks and mountain tops along the way.

Hill Top Trail is accessible only from Ridge Trail. It loops around the top of the hill on the north side of the trail system in Acker Park. It is not very long or difficult and it has some good higher vista views of Thumb Butte, Granite Mountain and you can even on a clear day see the San Francsico Peaks north of Flagstaff. Today the Peaks had snow on them!
You can get to this trail from trailhead parking areas at either the West Trailhead or the South Foothills Trailhead parking areas. (you could also start at the East Trailhead parking area, go up to Ridge Trail and then up to Hill Top Trail). Once on the Ridge Trail stay on it until you see the sign for the Hill Top Trail connection. The entrance to the hiking trail and trail itself is well marked and easy to follow. You will find benches to sit down on along the way to rest and enjoy the views.
Hill Top Trail adds some "sparkle" to the day hike and easily adds into the experience as a short "looper" back to Ridge Trail.
Enjoy the Hike!
