REGIONAL AREA: J.S. Acker Park - Picnic Table Trail as I call it is within the City of Prescott, Arizona Parks and Recreation supervision.

DIRECTIONS
From downtown Prescott go east on Gurley Street. Cross Senator Highway then take the next right (south) on S. Virginia St. You will travel a few blocks and enter the West Trailhead parking area. All trails are accessible from this trailhead and parking area simply by looping them together.

April 2008
If you are looking for a quiet woodsy area to have a picnic - this it it - there are several picnic tables in clearings under pine trees. Lots of shade. Additional parking, rest rooms, water and even a tots playground all nearby. There is a mostly dry creek bed running next to it for the kids and the kids at heart to explore.

This short trail loops off of the West Trailhead Parking trail entrance area running along side of the dry creek bed for a short ways, where it cuts across the creek bed and then wanders up to the Loop Trail. There is a gravel access road just to the west of it where you will find all the amenities close by.

As I crossed the dry creek bed 3 large birds did their "startled" and heavy flutter take off routine definitely getting my attention and my appreciation for their beauty and power. Silver was not impressed although and did not react at all - of course he is trained to do that . . .

Enjoy the Hike!
