My trail hike review --- My trail rating: 1

DIRECTIONS
From downtown Prescott go east on Gurley Street. Cross Senator Highway then take the next right (south) on S. Virginia St. You will travel a few blocks and enter the West Trailhead parking area. All trails are accessible from this trailhead and parking area simply by looping them together.
REGIONAL AREA: J.S. Acker Memorial Park - Ridge Trail is within the City of Prescott, Arizona Parks and Recreation supervision.
Acker Park is snuggled in between subdivision developments in the city of Prescott. It has easy access from 3 city street trailheads, has little elevation, well maintained wide trails and you are never far from a parking trailhead area.
Overall the Acker Park is top of the line Prescott area outdoors city hiking. Great views, quiet peaceful vistas where you do see some housing and city developments but you also get some awesome vistas of other peaks and mountain tops along the way.

This is an easy to find short city park hiking trail. Minor elevation changes, very little shade along the way but some great views of the area including some vista views of Thumb Butte and Granite Mountain.
You can enter this trail from trailhead parking areas at either the West Trailhead or the South Foothills Trailhead parking areas. The entrance to the hiking trail and trail itself is well marked and easy to follow. You will find benches to sit down on along the way to rest and enjoy the views.
It was very quiet and peaceful today. I only ran into two other persons on the trail and it was a beautiful clear blue sky warm and sunny spring morning. One man was doing a cardio walk and the other was out bush whacking with his metal detector. I did see a few birds and a beautiful large butterfly. It would not sit still long enough to get a good pic of it's full wing span but I did get one of it landing on a bush - see if you can find the pic in the gallery!
There are some occasional and interesting marker signs pointing out the local tree and plant life along the way. The trail is smooth small stone mix and well marked and maintained.
Ridge Trail makes a good short day hike. You can use it to connect and form a "looper" to the other trails in Acker Park ie East Trail, Hill Top and the Loop Trail.
Enjoy the Hike!
