My trail hike review --- My trail rating: 2

Regional area of Issabella Trail : in the Prescott National Forest, near Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Yavapai County, Arizona.
DIRECTIONS
Take highway 69 to Walker Road (County Road 57) turn south on Walker Road and continue on through the village of Walker. When you get to the end of the paved Walker road follow the signs onto the gravel (unmaintained) Walker road and continue 3 more miles. This part of the road is rough but generally passible as there are many country homes along the road on the way. Watch for the Issabella TR 377 Trail head sign on the right hand side, turn up gravel road, bear to the left and proceed a few hundred feet, park by trail head entrance - there is room for 2 or 3 cars. For more info you can also use the "more info" tab at top of page for Forest Service Trail Map link.
January 2007
This is an interesting little connecting trail about a mile long. It climbed steadily upward until I connected with the Groom Creek Loop Trail TR 307. There were housing and private property signs at the beginning of the trail. The trail although it appeared lightly used was easy to follow and hike. I found myself surrounded by tall standing Ponderosa Pines as I made my way up from the Hassayampa River area. The trail was mostly a softer pine needle forest mix. There was one spot a large tree fell over the trail and I had to climb over it but that added a little adventure to the moment. The wind picked up on the hike and I enjoyed the "whispering" sound it made in the tops of the pines and the fresh mountain winter air. All in all it was a scenic drive to the trail head and then a short and pleasant mountain trail hike.
Enjoy the Hike!
