My Trail Review:
January 2007
You will leave the trail head parking area by walking to end of old double track road and then the trail goes across the wash to the right. The morning started out cool but warmed up fast. Great blue skys today. I hiked in an open, scrub oak covered hillside for a little over a mile to Seven Mile Tank and then climb briskly for about another mile to the connection with Ranch Trail. This is a continuous steep incline trail so come prepared for a work out. I found the trail mix is loose so coming back down takes some good footwork and attention or you may find yourself slipping on the loose stuff. You will enjoy some great views of the regional area. You can see vistas looking north to Flagstaff, as far away as the Peaks to loca area Spruce Mountain near Prescott along the way.
From the Ranch Trail junction I climbed a little under a mile more to the connection with the Watershed Trail. Great views here of the Ponderosa pine forest along that upper portion. Keep your eyes and ears open for motocross cycles and atv's that share the trail and may be moving allot faster than you are. I had a couple come up on me and I just stepped off the trail and let them safely pass by.
Enjoy the hike!
