My Trail Review:
Fall 2006
You can start out on this trail from the front of the campground. It follows the blacktop back towards Hwy 260 winding along the east side of the hill, then climbs to the top and loops back around to meet up with with TR 33 so you can use it for part of a connecting loop in the campground trail system.
The trail appears to be heavily used by campers. There is a mixture of Ponderosa Pines then as it meets up with TR 33 you will see plenty of scrub brush and smaller pinion pines. I ran across some playful tree squirrels who decided to bark at me and scamper from tree to tree as I walked through their area.
Short family adventure trail. Just enough of the Forest to whet your appetite and please the kids yet always close enough to the campground to make it a fun short day hike for the whole family.
Enjoy the Rim!

MAP AND DIRECTION TIPS
Go east out of Payson, Arizona on Highway 260 which is an excellent scenic Rim Country highway. When you see Khol's Ranch come up on your right, slow down and watch to your left (north) side of the highway for the well marked Tonto Creek Campground turnoff. Turn left on Tonto Creek Road, a blacktop road, and drive up into the campground area. You will come to a bend to the left and cross over a small bridge, parking is on the left. You will find plenty of parking and toilets. Walk back across the bridge and follow well marked signs to trail entrance.
