My Trail Review:
Watson Lake is a fun family park to enjoy the whole day at. From picnics, boating, fishing to short hiking trails, there is lots to do and all are well designed and maintained. There is plenty of paved parking, restrooms, pavillions, new clean park benches located thoughout the park with relaxing scenic views, and the short trails are easy to follow and well marked while offering great views of the lake and surrounding scenic Prescott area.
Over all Watson Lake is top of the line Prescott area outdoors city hiking. Great views, quiet peaceful rest areas, excellent amenities and all just a few miles outside of downtown Prescott.
January 2009
This is a short well maintained city park type lakeside hiking trail. Little if any elevation changes, some minor up and down small hill areas, some shade along the way and incredibly exotic and beautiful views of the lake and surrounding rock formations in the area.
You will find the start of this Trail at the first parking area just beyond the park entrance fee booth on the north side of the entrance road. It starts out near the basketball court and then wraps up around the backside of one of the rocky areas on the north of the park around and down to the lake.
This is a fun little trail for all the family that can get out and walk about a mile or more round trip at a leisurely pace. There are lots of scenic view park benches pavillions and park recreation spots all along the way.
On the east side it follows the lake down to the boat launch area on the south west side of the lake. You have got to really enjoy and appreciate the ancient weathered rock formations in this area. Fun day!
Enjoy the Hike!
